Never available from VW originally, but manufactured to make life easier for you. We still personally prefer the cheaper rubber on a roll, as we feel it seals the glass in tighter, so less subject to water getting into the frame. Although these seals do seal the glass into the frame very well too! 

These seals definitely save you time and effort compared the the original style rubber on a roll. We've seen people fit pop-out glass to frame seals as a cheaper alternative before, don't do it. They will not seal around the catch correctly, thus letting lots of water in and rotting your frame out over time!
